Royal Society of Biology hosts an Athena Swan Biosciences Best Practice Workshop, 27 March 2018

On 7th March 2018 the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) hosted an Athena Swan Biosciences Best Practice Workshop. This event brought together staff from a wide range of different universities across the UK to share best practice and insights when applying for an Athena SWAN award. A selection of talks, in addition to interactive workshops run by ECU, provided specific advice on the application process and benefits of the award. In order to incorporate a broader discussion of best practice, the workshop concluded with a panel discussion focused on broadening participation and expanding the concept of diversity and inclusion. To broaden access to the insights shared at the event, a number of workshop delegates and speakers were interviewed on why they value diversity within the biosciences and what the Athena SWAN award means to them.

A summary of the day is available on the RSB blog and parts of the event are able to watch on the RSB YouTube channel.
